The resort town of Obzor stretches along a large bay of the Black Sea, on the hills of the Stara Planina mountain range, where the Dvoinitsa River flows into the sea. The favourable location allows for less than an hour's drive to the major cities of Varna (60 km) and Burgas (69 km), to the museum town of Nessebar (40 km) and the resort of Sunny Beach (33 km).
Obzor is a small and spacious city with a history of thousands of years. In ancient times it was the cultural centre of ancient Greece. Later, as part of the Roman Empire, it was a popular destination for Greek and Roman intelligence. And then the city was conquered by the Turks, who gave it the romantic name of Gezeken, which means "beautiful view". Its present name, Obzor, was given to the city in 1936.
Today, the Obzor successfully meets the needs of modern civilisation and is equipped with all the necessary infrastructure for a comfortable stay for its inhabitants. Shops, cafes and restaurants, post office, polyclinic, banks, food market, attractions, playgrounds, water sports and entertainment, all kinds of services.
Residents and guests of the city enjoy both the beautiful sea and the mountains with wonderful oak, lime, beech and hornbeam forests. The surroundings of the resort are rich in valuable species of medicinal plants and wild berries. And the quiet streets are buried in vineyards and peach trees.
The highlight of the city is the famous hot mineral springs with curative sulphurous water, which attract people from all over Europe to improve their health at any time of year.
The 8 km long beach stretches from the north, from St Atanas Cape to the southern Mona Petra Cape. Next are the secluded bay and beach of Irakli. Once upon a time, it was home to Greek settlers. A few kilometres to the south is Cape St. Nicholas, where Stara Planina is resting on the sea. This is followed by the central Stara Planina Cape of Emine, which is considered the end of the mountain range. Here in the Middle Ages, there was the Emona fortress, the rocks were inhabited by monks - hermits, there were small chapels and monasteries.
As in many parts of the Black Sea coast, buying a property in Obzor is a successful and profitable investment in your health and in your income, if you have the intention of renting out your home.
