The period of super profits, brought by the resale of real estate in Bulgarian cities and resorts, fell from 2003-2008. Back then in Bulgaria, the cost of 1 sq.m of housing was lower by 25-50% than in other European countries. The boom in apartment buildings made it possible to invest in an apartment, and later sell it for more than the original price by 35-40%.
The subsequent economic crises and downturns have made real estate investment in Bulgaria less liquid and less profitable. However, an increase in the price of residential and commercial properties by an average of 8-10% across the country in 2023 is a good incentive for investors.
Bulgaria: the benefits of investing in real estate
Currently, the value of Bulgarian property is still lower than in other countries of the European Union. This even applies to investing in properties that are located:
